Dave Linehan, Assistant General Counsel, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan

David Linehan is currently an attorney with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan, and is the primary legal counsel for the Information Technology division. David’s daily practice concentrates on advising the company on technology transactions including software licensing, development, maintenance, hosting, and systems integration. David has extensive experience in structuring, negotiating, and documenting large-scale sourcing arrangements (including hosting, data center, infrastructure, and telecommunications), as well as business process outsourcing transactions (on-shore and off-shore).

David also has experience with business associate requirements (PHI), Medicare/Medicaid and Federal Employee Programs agreements (CMS), information security requirements, and intellectual property issues. In addition to information technology, David’s contracting work has spanned the sales, marketing, and financial services sectors of the economy, and he has particularly extensive experience in the health care industry.

David received his Bachelor’s of Arts Degree from Wayne State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. David is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, in good standing. When not working, David enjoys playing hockey and spending time with his wife and daughter
